Nazareth Sisters Mother House, Nkabune

The Mother House is the very first establishment of the Nazareth Sisters, founded at the heart of the Congregation’s beginnings. It is where the first Sisters were nurtured and formed before being sent to serve in other communities within and beyond Meru. From this foundation, many other houses have been opened, continuing the mission and vision that began here.

Initially, the Mother House accommodated everyone — the Sisters, the Main Administration, and the formees. As the Congregation grew, the Administration and formees were relocated to their respective houses, allowing the Mother House to focus more on its core mission.

Today, the Sisters at the Mother House are actively involved in apostolic work within the Nkabune area — serving in the parish, teaching in the school, working at the dispensary, and supporting various community-based ministries. Some Sisters are students pursuing further formation, while others are elderly or in delicate health and receive special care within the community.

Beyond its pastoral and social roles, the Mother House serves as a central hub for spiritual renewal and ongoing formation. It regularly hosts retreats, seminars, and workshops, offering a place of reflection, learning, and growth for the Sisters and visitors alike.
